The marriage of heiresses – Numbers 36

Do Not Be Yoked With Unbelievers – Keeping your/our Family’s Inheritance!

2 Corinthians 6:14 (New International Version)

14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

The aforementioned scripture (2 Corinthians 6:14) has always been ascribed because it is scripturally confirmed that unbelievers will turn the believers heart against (or at least laxidasical or apathetic) towards God.

While I strongly agree because of Solomon and various other biblical examples, I would suggest another reason why God wouldn’t want believers walking in agreement with non-believers: OUR INHERITANCE IS AT STAKE!

Today in my daily devotional, I came across this concept.  In Numbers chapter 36,  The son of Manasseh spoke to Moses about the inheritance of their brother Zelophehad to his daughters.  (If you remember Zelophehad had no sons, only daughters - Numbers 27:1).  If the daughters of Zelophehad would married outside of their tribe during the Year of Jubilee, inheritance allotted to tribe of Manasseh would be transferred to the tribal ancestry of their husbands and make the inheritance of the tribe of Manasseh weaker.

To which Moses responded in Numbers 36:6-7, This is what the LORD commands for Zelophehad's daughters: They may marry anyone they please as long as they marry within the tribal clan of their father. No inheritance in Israel is to pass from tribe to tribe, for every Israelite shall keep the tribal land inherited from his forefathers.

As believers, we have exceeding great and precious promises (inheritance) from the Lord.  When we marry outside our believing tribe, we (in essence) transfer our inheritance to non-believing tribe, making our believing tribe weaker.

Discussing this concept with my wife, we came up with this practical example.  If a family-oriented believing spouse marries a non-family-oriented believing mate, the family-oriented person’s family is usually weakened.  The list can go on and on.

Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

David encouraged himself in the Lord 1 Sam 30:6

1 Samuel 30:6 (King James Version)

6And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

DAY 262 - Psalms 63:1 – We thirst for You!

Are you thirsty?

Psalm 63:1 (New King James Version)

A Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

1 O God, You are my God;
         Early will I seek You;
         My soul thirsts for You;
         My flesh longs for You
         In a dry and thirsty land
         Where there is no water.

I Will Sing – Psalms 59:16

Psalm 59:16 (New King James Version)

16 But I will sing of Your power;
         Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
         For You have been my defense
         And refuge in the day of my trouble.

Is God's Arm too short?

Numbers 11:4  – The people complained “Who will give us meat to eat?”

Numbers 11:5-6 “We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt,”  Focusing on worldly things will cause you to the appetite of God things!

Numbers 11:11-14 Moses complained because people burdens were too heavy for him.  Complaining all the time angers God and troubles leaders.  Hebrews 13:17 Complaints causes leaders to look naturally!

Numbers  11:16-25 The Lord puts the burden on 70 elders,  not good to bear your burdens alone.

Numbers 11:20 – Focusing on worldly things causes you to reject the Lord.

Numbers 11:21-22 Complaining causes your leader to look naturally!

Let the Worshippers Arise

Hebrews 10:24-25 (New King James Version)

24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Father I see that you are drawing a line in the sand
And I want to be standing on your side, holding your hand
So let your kingdom come, let it live in me
This is my prayer, this is my plea

Father I see that you are drawing a line in the sand
And I want to be standing on your side, holding your hand
So let your kingdom come, let it live in me
This is my prayer, this is my plea

[chorus]
Let the worshippers arise
Let the sons and the daughters sing
I surrender in my all
I surrender to the King

Let the worshippers arise
Let the sons and the daughters sing
I surrender in my all
I surrender to the King

Father I hear it growing louder
The song of your redeemed
As the saints of every nation
Are awakening to sing
From our hearts there comes an anthem
Oh, hear the heavens ring
This is our song, a song to our King!

Ministry of Excellence I

Wendell Parr - Charis Bible College IN

Test Review/Class Recap

Lesson 1 – Introduction

Because of Matthew 28:19-20 “the Great Commission,” we are all leaders because we are suppose to lead people to Christ.

Secular (Worldly) Leadership promotes him/herself.  Christian Leadership SHOULD help develop others (make disciples).

Excellence flows from top down.

Q: Whom Do We Represent? A: We represent the greatest Kingdom:

How are we to Represent?

  1. In appearance: dress for success.
  2. Work on your vocal presentation; use correct grammar; enunciate clearly
  3. Have a Godly attitude.  Beware of haughtiness or rude demeanor.  Don’t be demanding in your position
  4. Conduct:  1 Thessalonians 5:22 (KJV) Abstain from all appearance of evil

Ministers excellence is to be visible 24/7, whether in the secular world or in the Christian realm.

People respond positively or negatively to Jesus based on how we represent Jesus.

DAY 232: God favored Esther, God favors ME!

Psalm 44:3 - For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, ...; But it was Your right hand,...Because You favored them.
God favored Queen Esther, God favors ME!
Esther 5:2 NKJ

So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter.

Esther 8:4 NKJ

And the king held out the golden scepter toward Esther. So Esther arose and stood before the king,

Notes:

1)  Twice Queen Esther appeared before the king without being summons, twice golden scepter of grace was extended to her.

2)  Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

3) God wants us to come to Him with our request.

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
