Gen 11:4 Let us make a name for ourselves

Big Idea:  When you seek to make a name for yourself (i.e. Personal Branding);  Heaven works against you !!!

Genesis 11:7a (NKJV) Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language...

Genesis 4:26 - then began men to call upon the name of the Lord

This may emphasize that people still trusted God in spite of Cain and his ungodly family.

Psalm 137:3-4 How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a strange land?

Psalm 137:3-4 (NIV)

3 for there our captors asked us for songs,
    our tormentors demanded songs of joy;
they said, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

4 How can we sing the songs of the Lord

Big Idea:  We are no longer in captivity. We can always sing.  Jesus HAS defeated all our enemies.  We are no longer tormented.  The cross has the final word.

Sing a little louder in the presence of my enemy.

Genesis 1:11 - whose seed is in itself

Big idea:  You're God's seed capable of producing and should produce Godly fruit.

Biblical Supporting Scripture: 1 Peter 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Acts 12:5 - Don't Give Up On Your Prayers

All that the scripture says is that “prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.” The words “without ceasing” here come from the Greek word “ektenes” (ek-ten-ace’). That is not the same word that is used in I Thess. 5:17 and elsewhere, where we are told to “pray without ceasing.”

Establish a Prosperous Soul - Lesson 1 (Greg Mohr)

3 John 2 (NKJV) Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
  1. Prosper defined: Succeed in business affairs; have a good journey
  1. A good journey is NOT consistently being sick or broke.
  1. "Just as" Kingdom prosperity is equivalent (in direct proportion) = degree of soul prosperity.
  1. It is a mathematical formula.
  1. Lottery, gambling not kingdom prosperity – attempting to get physical prosperity without soul prosperity.
Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
  1. An unrestful soul is an unprosperous soul.
  1. Mark 4:19 and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
